Seek. Sense. Share: Turning curiosity into wisdom

I love this simple Seek-Sense-Share model Harold Jarche uses to turn curiosity into wisdom:
Seek: Follow your curiosity. Explore nature, books, podcasts, conversations, or any rabbit hole that fascinates you.

Sense: Make meaning from what you’ve found. Reflect, photograph, journal, or connect ideas in new ways.

Share: Share what you’ve learned with others—blog posts, newsletters, discussions, or casual conversations.
In a recent post, Maria Popova, author, poet and founder of the popular blog, The Marginalian, gave rich context to this concept of seek - sense - share. She wrote:
“I have found that the surest way of seeing the wondrous in something ordinary, something previously under-appreciated, is coming to love someone who loves it. As we enter each other’s worlds in love — whatever its shape or species — we double our way of seeing, broaden our way of being, magnify our sense of wonder, and wonder is our best means of loving the world more deeply.”

The power of this approach? It’s an infinite loop. Sharing leads to feedback, which ignites new seeking, and the process repeats. It’s a way to refine your ideas over time while staying fluid - and “loving the world more deeply.”
An example of this loop is the photo below of Olympic Valley mountain on a misty winter day.

The backstory
I’m blown away by the beauty of nature, people and things. I have 50,000 pictures to prove it. The photos here are just a few of them. I shared the Olympic Valley mountain photo (above) a while back and someone responded by introducing me to a person I never heard of: Harold Jarche.

For me, writing and photography is an excuse to remain intensely curious. It's a reason to get out and learn more about the people and places I love. And it's a reason to discover new places and meet new people like Osvaldo Ancinas, Jeff Morrison, Steve Wampler, and Brig. Gen. Bud Anderson, (each of whom are featured below - including a hyperlink on their names if you’re interested in learning more about these fascinating people).

Visual storytelling is an easy way for me to document these special places and people. But Harold Jarche helped me realize it's through the sharing that the real sparks begin to fly.
New artwork, music, books, people and places have become part of my expanding orbit of curiosity... new rabbit holes, so to speak, thanks to feedback from posts like this.
Jarche reminds us to follow our curiosity. Find meaning in it and share it with others through our words, photos, art, music, or whatever mode of communication works best for us.
At the very least, this seek-sense-share model helps us make better sense of our world.
